A lively gathering of women at UmAy: Elif, Şule, Adrienne, Sevil, Özlem. After introductions, house tour, and Turkish coffee chat, we had a yoga session upstairs. It was a great opportunity to check the space use and talk about it afterwards. Şule is not only an engaged scholar of Anthropology but also a yoga trainer who got very enthusiastic about using UmAy as a multi-purpose place for feeding both the soul and the body in the future. Elif, a new graduate of Bogazici University Counselling Department, is willing to settle in here and contribute in multiple ways. Her plans include assistance with Özlem’s current project of Syrian women’s faith practices during transition with Sabancı University, continuing the workshops with the local school students, and organizing outdoor activities for women, cycling, hiking, and photography.
